Rep. Marcy Kaptur, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Ohio’s 9th district since 1983, recently addressed her constituents on social media about public health, legislative actions, and community recognition.
On July 21, 2025, Kaptur used her Twitter account to remind followers about UV Safety Month and the importance of sun protection. She stated, "July is UV Safety Month so here is a reminder to protect your skin, eyes, and loved ones from harmful sun exposure. We're on track to be the hottest summer on record so take extra care: -Seek shade -Wear protective clothing and sunglasses -Use broad spectrum SPF 15+ sunscreen".
The following day, July 22, Kaptur criticized the House GOP for what she described as avoidance of bipartisan infrastructure reform during previous summers. She posted, "Last summer, the @HouseGOP shut down work in mid-July instead of finding the big middle on bipartisan infrastructure reform. This summer, with costs rising on everything from beef to health insurance premiums, they'd rather go home than tell the truth about Epstein. The American".
Later that same day, Kaptur honored Joe Szafarowicz for his long-standing service in Northwest Ohio. Kaptur was born in Toledo in 1946 and continues to reside there at age 76. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Madison with a BA in 1968. As one of Congress's longest-serving members since replacing Ed Weber in 1983, Kaptur remains active both legislatively and within her local community.
