U.S. Representative Marcy Kaptur, who serves Ohio’s 9th district and has been in Congress since 1983, shared updates on local initiatives and reflections through a series of posts on her social media account in late July 2025.

On July 27, Kaptur announced the allocation of federal funds to an urban forestry initiative, stating: "Planting forward — $6 Million in federal funds delivered for RE-TREE Toledo. We are educating a future generation of urban foresters. This new Urban Forestry Youth Training Program will plant the seed for our youth to learn important trade skills for tomorrow."

Later that day, she reflected on acts of kindness during challenging times, posting: "Life is about doing little things with great love. Glad to be reminded of that both by this quote, and a mother calming her son. Something we can all take heed of in these turbulent times."

On July 28, Kaptur highlighted a community milestone in East Toledo: "The Birmingham neighborhood in East Toledo is celebrating its library’s Centennial. A fun afternoon to be on hand where learning and community were lifted up."

Kaptur was born in Toledo, Ohio in 1946 and continues to reside there at age 76. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Madison with a BA in 1968. Since replacing Ed Weber in Congress over four decades ago, Kaptur has maintained strong ties to her hometown and frequently spotlights local educational and environmental efforts.
