Rep. Marcy Kaptur, who has represented Ohio’s 9th district in the U.S. Congress since 1983, shared updates on federal investment, humanitarian concerns, and local workforce initiatives through a series of social media posts on September 25, 2025.
On the morning of September 25, Kaptur announced a major infrastructure development for northwest Ohio. She stated, "An agreement between @City_of_Toledo and @USACE_Buffalo locks in $13 Million in federal investment I secured for new water infrastructure here. Honored to deliver these resources to ensure reliable drinking water for half a million NW Ohioans."
Later that day, she addressed the ongoing humanitarian situation in Gaza by urging action from international actors. In her words from a post at 16:35 UTC, "Humanitarian aid must be allowed to reach those in Gaza. I continue to call on the Israeli government to allow safe delivery of aid and I pray for the safety of innocents and those putting their lives on the line in the service of peace."
In her third post of the day at 21:20 UTC, Kaptur highlighted local efforts to connect students with career opportunities. She wrote, "Northwest State Community College in Archbold and our 983rd Army Reserve unit with Four County Career Center hosted a remarkable job fair to help students explore potential career opportunities. So happy to join and help inspire young people in our region to reach for the stars".
Kaptur is one of Congress's longest-serving members and has been an advocate for her Toledo-based district since succeeding Ed Weber in 1983. Born in Toledo in 1946 and currently residing there, she is known for championing regional infrastructure projects and community engagement initiatives. Kaptur graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Madison with a BA in 1968.
