Rep. Marcy Kaptur, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Ohio’s 9th district since 1983, has recently commented on social media about U.S. agricultural policy and international cooperation efforts.

On September 26, 2025, Kaptur posted criticism regarding the impact of previous trade policies on American farmers: "Argentina undercut US soybean farmers—taking advantage of President Trump's reckless tariffs. Now we're going to bail out Argentina with Billions in taxpayer money before we restore soybean markets for Heartland farmers? You can't even make this up! Later on September 26, Kaptur reported from Ottawa about her work leading a bilateral group focused on U.S.-Canada relations: "In Ottawa to lead our US-Canada Bipartisan Interparliamentary Group. Strengthening Congressional-Parliamentary communication will help us address key issues including defense and environmental cooperation, and severe economic impact of Trump Tariffs on agriculture, energy,".

Kaptur’s posts highlight concerns about the effects of tariffs imposed during former President Donald Trump’s administration on sectors like agriculture and energy. She also emphasized the importance of interparliamentary dialogue between the United States and Canada to address these issues.

Kaptur was born in Toledo, Ohio in 1946 and continues to reside there. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 1968 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
