Clean water is essential to public health. The 22nd Annual Great Lakes Water Conference will focus, through the lens of law and science, on threats to public health posed by various contaminants in our waters and by lack of access to clean water. This year's conference will be conducted virtually as a live webinar.
Titled "Public Health and Water," this half day conference will feature panels of experts addressing multiple water-based public health problems: harmful algal blooms and the key toxin they produce in Lake Erie and beyond; per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), so-called "forever chemicals" which are widespread in surface and ground waters; a new federal regulation governing lead in public drinking water; and lack of access by some communities to public drinking water systems.
The conference is sponsored by The University of Toledo College of Law and its affiliated Legal Institute of the Great Lakes.
The Ohio Supreme Court Commission on Continuing Legal Education has approved the conference for 3.0 hours of CLE credit as a live interactive webinar.
