WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Toledo men's golf team sat at an amazing 17-under par in Round 2 on Sunday when play was suspended due to darkness at UNC-Wilmington's Seahawk Intercollegiate. The Rockets were tied for 14th place after Round 1 but have shot up to fourth place in the team standings at nine-under par with between one and two holes to play at the par-72, 7,031-yard CC of Landfall's Dye Course.
No. 27 TCU sits atop the team standings at 19-under par with Stetson in second place at 13-under par and Wright State in third at 10-under par. No. 44 Clemson is tied for fifth place with Campbell at eight -under par. Stetson's Matt Gauntlett is leading the field at 11-under par with two holes remaining.
Junior Barend Botha is leading UT at eight-under par and tied for second place with one hole remaining. Junior Jamie Tofte Nielsen is also under par at three-under par and tied for 16th place with one hole left.
Senior NJ Botha is tied for 39th place at one-over par through 17 holes after matching his brother Barend with a six-under par score in the second round. Senior Palmer Yenrick is also under par at three-under with two holes left and tied for 59th place at four-over par.
Freshman Bence Kotel is one-over par with two holes remaining and tied for 64th place at five-over par.
The second round will resume tomorrow morning at 8:45 a.m. with the tournament's final 18 holes to follow.
