Toledo, OH — Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09) Founder and Co-Chair of the Congressional Ukraine Caucus released the following statement following developments in Russia and Ukraine resulting in the apparent exile of Russian mercenary Wagner leader Yevgeny Prigozhin.

“The western Alliance and our NATO allies must remain united and resolute in our strong support of Ukraine until she is victorious. Events inside Russia appear to show continuing strife among its military leaders related to executing its unprovoked war against Ukraine.  

“Perhaps, there will be another shift in Russian military commanders. For the moment, the mercenary Wagner chief Yevgeny Prigozhin is headed out of Russia to Belarus in a curious deal brokered between tyrant Putin and Belarusian dictator Lukashenko. Recall, that Putin recently announced Belarus would be a recipient of Russian nuclear weapons. 

“Press reports indicate further exodus from Russia by its own citizens is seemingly underway. Flights leaving with passengers from Russia headed for Turkey, Armenia, and destinations across the Middle East are sold out. None of these factors bode well for confidence in Vladimir Putin. But one cannot predict what any of these dastardly war criminals will do. They aspire to no code of Justice nor Honor just power and money.”
