Toledo Police, Fire & Rescue, Environmental Services, Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, and Ohio Department of Transportation are responding to an active hazardous materials spill on I-280/Manhattan due to an overturned semi.

The spill has been contained and there is no immediate danger to the surrounding area, however I-280 NB will remain closed until removal is completed.

The responsible party has brought in a contractor to clean up the spill, consisting of hydrofluoric acid and sulfuric acid. They will sweep up the sand and all contaminated materials for off site disposal, as well as remediate any impacted soil, drains, and nearby detention pond. More updates will be available as cleanup continues.
