Become Toledo's Next Kid Mayor or Kid Council Member

Attention all fourth graders in Toledo Public Schools and Washington Local Schools. We are looking for thirteen lucky fourth graders who will have the unique opportunity to serve a one-year term as Kid Mayor or Kid Council members.

Do you want to:

  • Learn about Local Government: Kid Mayor and Kid Council meet with city officials, such as the Mayor, City Council members, or other government representatives.
  • Present Ideas: Kid Mayor and Kid Council are encouraged to share their ideas on how to improve the community. They may have the opportunity to present their proposals or projects during special events or meetings.
  • Get Involved: Kid Mayor and Kid Council participate in community events, volunteer activities, and projects that aim to make a positive impact on the local area, such as having a Litter League team.
  • Represent Your Peers: Kid Mayor and Kid Council serve as representatives of their fellow students.
  • Attend Special Events: Kid Mayor and Kid Council attend special events, meetings, or ceremonies, giving them firsthand experience in public and civic life.
How to Apply:

All fourth graders within Toledo Public Schools and Washington Local Schools are eligible to participate. Interested students can obtain more information and applications from their teachers or principals. Applications will be accepted from January 8 to January 22.
