MONSE’s Save Our Community and community partners from the YMCA, RFS Tackle, Go Tyme Grynd Fitness, DDYC, Hoodstock Foundation, Junction Coalition, A Unique Impact, Tighten Up 419, and the Zepf Center juvenile justice program are being trained in the Roca Institute’s Rewire CBT.
The Roca Impact Institute's Rewire CBT was developed in partnership with Massachusetts General Hospital as a simple, skills-based approach to cognitive behavioral theory for frontline staff to implement as a behavior change intervention with high risk young people.
When implemented, Rewire CBT has proven effective at reducing re-offense instances compared to similar youth not involved in the program and has demonstrated a clear decrease in violence committed by program participants. The training equips staff with the skills needed to help young people address trauma and retrain their think, feel, do cycles that often result in violence.
One of MONSE’s core goals is to broaden and strengthen the ecosystem of organizations and residents working to reduce gun violence in Toledo. This training demonstrates the commitment to two of their Guiding Principles: accepting that there are no simple fixes and remain results and solutions focused.
