Tammy McInerney, a Toledo native and graduate of Whitmer High School, holds a degree in Health Information Management from Owens and completed The NW Ohio Paramedic Program at MCO. With 15 years of marriage, Tammy, her husband, and their 14-year-old child, alongside a 19-year-old cat, form the core of her life. Currently serving as a Community Resource Advisor for 211, Tammy's work is driven by her deep love for her family and community.

Having witnessed intolerance affecting those close to her within various spheres, including schools, medical professionals, friends, and family, Tammy's commitment to creating affirming, inclusive, and supportive spaces for all individuals, irrespective of sexual orientation or gender equality, has only strengthened. Introduced to Equality Toledo and the NW Ohio LGBTQ+ Coalition, Tammy recognized an opportunity to contribute significantly.

As the Chair of Outreach and Engagement for the Coalition, Tammy actively participates in Pride events and conducts meaningful outreach in communities across Northwest Ohio. Elected as the Lucas County Chair for the coalition, she plays a crucial role in advancing initiatives such as the affirming healthcare accreditation project.

Appointed to the Board of Directors of Equality Toledo last summer, Tammy aims to contribute to positive change and advocate for the well-being of LGBTQ+ individuals. Her long-term goals align with the resurrection of ET Community Action, a 501c4 nonprofit, and she has been instrumental in rebuilding and relaunching the organization. Recently elected as Board Chair of ETCA, Tammy is dedicated to vetting and endorsing affirming political candidates, hosting events like Pride Prom, and partnering with other LGBTQ+ organizations to promote equality across the region.

Tammy's belief in advocacy, action, and education as catalysts for positive change drives her work in elevating the LGBTQ+ community in the Toledo area. Her commitment is evident through initiatives like hosting successful Make Noise Monday events to engage and educate the community on pending anti-LGBTQ+ legislation and strategies to combat them.

Tammy McInerney continues to use her voice and work tirelessly to make a positive impact, fostering a more inclusive and equitable environment for the LGBTQ+ community in Toledo.
