State Senator Paula Hicks-Hudson has expressed approval following the Ballot Board's unanimous decision to certify a citizen-initiated constitutional amendment known as the "Ohio Voters Bill of Rights." Hicks-Hudson, who is a member of the Ohio Ballot Board, stated, "The Ohio Constitution places the power in the hands of our citizens, and I am pleased with our actions this afternoon."

She emphasized that presenting a straightforward issue to voters should help provide clear language for citizens to decide on protecting access to the ballot. The proposed amendment aims to secure fair and free access to voting for Ohio residents by including provisions such as in-person early voting, automatic voter registration at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV), accommodations for voters with disabilities, and criminalizing voter fraud.

This certification follows a ruling by the Ohio Supreme Court against Attorney General Dave Yost's attempt to block the amendment. With its certification as a single issue, petitioners can now proceed with gathering signatures required for advancing in the ballot process.
