Rep Marcy Kaptur emphasizes importance of American manufacturing

Rep. Marcy Kaptur, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing Ohio's 9th district since 1983, has recently shared her views on various subjects through social media posts. Born in Toledo, Ohio in 1946, Kaptur is an alumna of the University of Wisconsin–Madison and currently resides in Toledo.

On December 5, 2024, Rep. Kaptur expressed her commitment to the American auto industry by emphasizing its significance to future generations. She stated, "I hail from the manufacturing Heart of America, at the Ohio-Michigan border. Future generations across our industrial heartland and nation depend on restoring and reshoring American ownership of our auto industry, because What America makes and builds, makes and builds America."

The following day, December 6, 2024, she celebrated a local tradition by acknowledging the contributions of Sylvania’s Michael Lieber as a Town Crier for nearly three decades. She remarked on this enduring cultural practice by saying "Today I celebrated a cherished, and inspiring tradition that bridges history, culture, and community. The enduring role of the Town Crier. In Northwest Ohio, Sylvania’s Michael Lieber has embodied this vibrant legacy with distinction and flair for nearly three decades."

On December 7, 2024, Rep. Kaptur addressed concerns regarding sportsmanship in college football. Reflecting on her personal ties to Ohio and her educational background at the University of Michigan (@UMich), she commented on recent developments in college sportsmanship: "As a lifelong citizen of Ohio and grateful graduate of @UMich, I feel a deep sense of responsibility to speak out on the recent degradation of sportsmanship in college football. Winning isn't everything, but as we know living a life of honor integrity and respect for others is."
