On February 3, 2025, Rep. Kaptur expressed concern about the influence of an "unelected Billionaire" on critical payment systems used by millions of Americans for Social Security payments, Medicare, and tax refunds. She emphasized the potential risks involved and called for transparency to prevent any breaches of personal information. "An unelected Billionaire is running rampant through the payment system millions of Americans rely on for their Social Security payments, Medicare, and tax refunds. This is very dangerous turf. Americans demand answers before their information is irreparably breached."

Later that day, she commemorated the second anniversary of the Norfolk Southern derailment in East Palestine. Rep. Kaptur acknowledged the lasting impact on residents' lives and reaffirmed her commitment to ensuring accountability and long-term health protections for those affected by the incident. "Two years ago, the lives of East Palestine residents were forever changed by the Norfolk Southern derailment. While we can’t undo the past, we must fight for their future."
