Rep. Marcy Kaptur, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Ohio's 9th district, has taken to social media to address significant issues impacting her constituents and the nation at large. Through a series of tweets, she highlighted concerns over recent actions by government agencies and decisions affecting healthcare and postal services.
On February 20, 2025, Rep. Kaptur tweeted about a workforce reduction at the Department of Veterans Affairs: "1000 workers have been fired from @DeptVetAffairs, including veteran Andrew Lennox who was actively serving NW Ohioans at the VA. Andrew served as a marine in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Syria — he, and the fellow veterans he serves, deserve so much more." This tweet draws attention to what she describes as "indiscriminate" dismissals within the department.
Later that day on February 20, Rep. Kaptur commented on proposed cuts to essential health programs by former President Trump: "Yesterday, President Trump endorsed $880 BILLION in cuts to Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act — breaking his promise." She expressed concern over how these reductions would impact Ohioans who depend on these services for their healthcare needs.
In another post dated February 21, 2025, Rep. Kaptur underscored the importance of maintaining postal services for rural Americans and seniors: "Many rural Americans and seniors especially rely on @USPS delivering to neighborhoods that private companies won’t... We cannot cut off this critical lifeline for our people." She called for immediate attention and congressional hearings regarding this matter.
