We must commit to finding justice for her murder as the investigation unfolds. My thoughts and prayers remain with her family, friends, and all who grieve. May she rest in".

Later that day, Rep. Kaptur called for accountability concerning alleged negligence affecting American servicemembers' safety: "Pete Hegseth must resign. We need a full, independent investigation of this complete and utter negligence. Those involved have put American servicemembers lives at risk, and they must be held accountable."
