Marcy Kaptur, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Ohio’s 9th district, shared several insights and reflections over social media this week. In tweets focused on her constituents and economic concerns, Kaptur combined elements of celebration with critical observations.

On April 17, Kaptur expressed her recognition for local businesses, stating "Celebrating 115 years of Gross Electric, a family owned NW Ohio institution. Homegrown businesses that span generations are the building block of strong communities. Thank you to the Gross family." This highlights her ongoing support for local enterprise within her district.

On the same day, Kaptur addressed economic challenges caused by trade policies. She tweeted "They say 'if something ain't broke, don't fix it,' now we've gone and broken US manufacturing through arbitrary tariffs and a reckless trade war. Tariffs are driving up prices and hurting American families. Hardworking Americans deserve better than broken promises, rising costs," critiquing the impact of tariffs on the U.S. manufacturing sector and domestic consumers.

The subsequent day, April 18, Kaptur reflected on community events by acknowledging a local gathering. She shared, "It’s been a great week of community gatherings like the Veterans Lunch at Friendship Park in Point Place. Thank you to these patriotic NW Ohioans who bravely answered the call to serve our nation in Liberty’s name." emphasizing her appreciation for veterans and her engagement with community events.

Marcy Kaptur, born in Toledo, Ohio in 1946 and an alumna of the University of Wisconsin–Madison, has been representing Ohio's 9th District since succeeding Ed Weber in 1983. Her long-standing service in Congress reflects her deep ties to the region she continues to serve.
