Kaptur, who has served in Congress since 1983 and holds a degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, has a history rooted deeply in representing her constituents. The tweets reflect her ongoing commitment to advocating for truth and justice on both a national and global scale.

On April 24, Congresswoman Kaptur stated, "Voice of America is a beacon of truth for millions around the world. Silencing it risked lives, betrayed our values, and ignored the law. In these times, we must protect press freedom both at home and abroad. America stands for truth. I applaud the Court’s decision to restore the service." The statement reinforces her support for press freedom and her commendation of a recent court decision related to Voice of America.
