Rep. Marcy Kaptur, the U.S. Congress member representing Ohio’s 9th district since 1983, shared a series of tweets on May 2, 2025, addressing concerns over the Trump Administration's budget proposals and expressing dedication to local interests and historical education.

On May 2, 2025, Rep. Kaptur criticized the Trump Administration's budget plan to reduce funding for clean energy and water infrastructure. She stated, "The Trump Budget plan to slash clean energy and water infrastructure funding, is shortsighted and dangerous." She cited the potential threats to families, the Great Lakes, public safety, and America's energy future, urging for investment rather than withdrawal from these sectors.

Later that same day, Kaptur emphasized the significance of the Great Lakes for Northwestern Ohio, highlighting their role in the regional economy. In her post, she stated, "In NW Ohio we take the responsibility to tend for the largest fresh water body on Earth seriously." She voiced opposition to what she called short-sighted tariffs and efforts to undermine programs protecting water and health.

Rep. Kaptur also shared details of her participation in an educational event in Wauseon on May 2. She described the event as a tribute to World War II, involving more than 500 students from local high schools. She mentioned, "Packed house in Wauseon today for an educational event on history of WWII. 500+ students from Fayette, Wauseon, Evergreen, and Swanton High Schools." Kaptur praised the WWII generation, calling them the "most unselfish generation" for their efforts during the war.

Marcy Kaptur, who was born in 1946 in Toledo, graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 1968 with a BA. She has dedicated her career to serving Ohio’s 9th district, a tenure that began in 1983 when she succeeded Ed Weber.
