Rep. Marcy Kaptur, currently serving in the U.S. Congress and representing Ohio’s 9th district, has recently highlighted community activities and educational developments in a series of tweets. Known for her decades-long service since replacing Ed Weber in 1983, Kaptur shared her thoughts and participation in key events centered around growth and community support.

On May 3, 2025, Kaptur expressed her anticipation for the grand opening of the new Wayman Palmer YMCA. She described the YMCA as having been "a pillar of the Warren Sherman neighborhood", and emphasized its role as more than just a building, stating it serves as "a beacon for enjoyment, a hub of our community, and a promise to children, families, and neighbors."

Later that day, on May 3, Kaptur participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for the Four County Career Center Expansion in Archbold. She described the Career Center as "a true launchpad for opportunity for our future workforce across Defiance, Fulton, Henry, and Williams Counties," indicating its potential impact on providing improved opportunities, better wages, workplace safety, and job security for many in the area.

On May 4, 2025, Rep. Kaptur tweeted about the Omega Psi Phi fraternity's influence since its founding in 1911. She noted its nationwide membership of 250,000 individuals who adhere to the principles of uplifting scholarship and perseverance. Kaptur stated that she was "honored to join their 84th annual meet up and welcome attendees from across Ohio,” highlighting the organization's motto, "Friendship is Essential to the Soul."

Marcy Kaptur, who has had a longstanding career in Congress since 1983, continues to actively support educational and community initiatives. Born in Toledo, Ohio, in 1946, she is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where she earned a BA in 1968.
