Marcy Kaptur, currently serving in the U.S. Congress and representing Ohio’s 9th district, shared insights and concerns on social media regarding both skilled tradespeople and issues with the Department of Energy Secretary's responsiveness. Kaptur, who has been a member of Congress since replacing Ed Weber in 1983, took to Twitter to address these matters.

On May 7, 2025, Kaptur tweeted about #NationalSkilledTradesDay, acknowledging the critical role that tradespeople play in the economy of Northwest Ohio. She stated: "Today on #NationalSkilledTradesDay, we honor the hardworking tradespeople who are the backbone of our NW Ohio economy. From factory floors, to job sites, your skill and dedication power our communities in more ways than one. I will always stand with you because we simply couldn’t."

Later that day, Kaptur expressed her disappointment on Twitter concerning Secretary Wright from the Department of Energy. She mentioned during his confirmation hearings he committed to addressing congressional concerns but has since not responded adequately to requests for information made in February, March, and April. In her tweet she said: "During his confirmation hearings, @ENERGY Secretary Wright said he would 'respond to issues of concern to Congress.' He has since ignored 4 bicameral requests for information in February, March, and April. His answers are disappointing, and the lack of response speaks for itself."

On May 8, 2025, Kaptur followed up by providing additional resources for those interested in understanding her concerns further through another tweet: "You can find a full copy of our letter and additional information about our concerns here."

As a long-standing representative from Toledo who graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Madison with a BA in 1968, Marcy Kaptur continues to voice her advocacy for both local labor forces and transparency within governmental departments.
