Representative Marcy Kaptur, currently serving Ohio's 9th district in the U.S. Congress, has taken to social media to express her concerns and initiatives on various pressing issues. On May 21, 2025, she addressed topics ranging from construction funding within the Corps of Engineers to pharmaceutical pricing reform.
On May 21, 2025, Rep. Kaptur tweeted about the politicization of construction funding at the Corps of Engineers. She emphasized that "Politicization of critical construction funding at the Corps of Engineers is dangerous. Disinvestment leads to higher costs. Deferred maintenance becomes disaster recovery. Preventable failures become national emergencies." She further urged Congress to reclaim authority over appropriations (link).
Later that day, she turned her attention to the issue of pharmaceutical pricing by announcing her participation in a bipartisan legislative effort aimed at reducing prescription costs. In collaboration with other representatives, including Ro Khanna and Andy Biggs, she stated: "Big Pharma overcharges us for life-saving medications. That’s why I joined @RepRoKhanna, @RepLuna, & @RepAndyBiggsAZ to introduce the bipartisan Global Fairness in Drug Pricing Act" (link).
Additionally, Rep. Kaptur provided a link for more information on this bipartisan legislative effort in another tweet made on May 21: "You can read more about our bipartisan legislative effort here" (link).
Marcy Kaptur has served in Congress since replacing Ed Weber in 1983 and continues her work from Toledo, Ohio where she was born in 1946. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin–Madison with a BA earned in 1968, Kaptur remains an active voice in legislative matters concerning both state and national interests.
