Rep. Marcy Kaptur, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Ohio’s 9th district, has been vocal on various pressing issues through her social media presence. In a series of tweets, she addressed topics ranging from international conflicts to domestic challenges and environmental concerns.
On June 1, 2025, Rep. Kaptur highlighted the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. She stated, "Despite the odds, Ukraine’s soldiers and citizenry have nobly resisted Russia’s invasion since 2014 to regain their Liberty." She also mentioned that Russia is reportedly enlisting North Korean troops under Kim Jong Un's directive.
The following day, June 2, 2025, Rep. Kaptur expressed her condolences regarding an attack in Boulder, Colorado. She tweeted, "Heartfelt prayers for the families, victims, and entire Jewish community of Boulder, Colorado after yesterday’s attack." She condemned antisemitism and emphasized that hatred should not exist in American communities.
On June 3, 2025, Kaptur addressed environmental issues affecting North America due to fires in Canada. She wrote about the impact of smoke on local communities and extended support to those affected by stating: "With smoke and hazy air affecting parts of North America and many NW Ohio communities..." She called for urgent action against climate change.
Rep. Marcy Kaptur has served in Congress since replacing Ed Weber in 1983. Born in Toledo, Ohio in 1946 and holding a BA from the University of Wisconsin–Madison since 1968, she continues to reside in Toledo while representing her district.
