Marcy Kaptur, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing Ohio's 9th district since 1983, recently shared her views on several pressing issues through a series of tweets. Kaptur, who was born in Toledo, Ohio in 1946 and holds a BA from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, addressed topics ranging from agriculture to healthcare and military readiness.
On June 5, 2025, Kaptur emphasized her support for local farmers in a tweet marking National Egg Day. She stated: "As representative of the region that produces the most eggs in our nation, on National Egg Day I rose to say I stand with the people who make our breakfast, not those making excuses, and delaying scientific progress. Ohio families, and farmers deserve better than price gouging."
Later that day, Kaptur criticized certain political figures and policies regarding healthcare and taxation. She tweeted: "While Elon Musk and President Trump mark their territory, the GOP is working to kick 16 million people off their health care, collapse rural hospitals, and rack up more debt — all so Billionaires can receive massive tax breaks. It’s time for them to grow up or get out of the way."
In another post on June 5th, Kaptur discussed military preparedness with General Steven Nordhaus. She wrote: "Discussing mission readiness and the National Guard of the future with NW Ohio native @ChiefNGB General Steven Nordhaus. General Nordhaus previously commanded our @180thFW in Toledo."
