She wrote: "Enjoyed visiting the Lucas County Fair to support The Helping Haul Food Drive and Lucas County 4-H. Bravo to all involved in collecting donations of goods for those in need. Each year I am amazed at the students commitment to raise animals, and strengthen programs for generations".

On July 14, 2025, Kaptur addressed proposed funding reductions affecting scientific research. She stated: "The GOP plans to slash $2.1 Billion from the National Science Foundation. It won’t just hurt labs—it hurts students, startups, and the future economy. From clean energy to advanced manufacturing, these are jobs of tomorrow. Kaptur is currently serving as a member of Congress representing Ohio’s 9th district after replacing Ed Weber in 1983. Born in Toledo in 1946 and now aged 76, she continues to reside there. Kaptur graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Madison with a BA in 1968.
