Rep. Marcy Kaptur, U.S. Congresswoman representing Ohio’s 9th district, posted a series of statements on her official X account on July 18 and 19, focusing on energy policy, transparency in presidential finances, and the importance of unions.
On July 18, Kaptur commented on recent legislative action and concerns regarding President Trump’s financial disclosures: "Feeling some deja vu! We just passed another Energy & Water Appropriations bill out of Committee yesterday, we still don’t have President Trump’s tax returns or a full PICTURE of the President’s investments in energy which remain an ENIGMA. Is @POTUS rigging markets?"
Continuing her advocacy for labor rights the following day, Kaptur wrote: "Just your daily reminder that unions are the backbone of our nation. Fighting for fair wages, safe workplaces, and dignity on the job. The Big Bonanza Bill for Billionaires attacks these rights, puts profits over people, and people out of work. We must stand up for workers, not" (July 19).
Later on July 19, she encouraged readers to access additional commentary by sharing an editorial: "Read the full op-ed from the Toledo Blade here: https://t.co/HA4i1C3p1i".
Kaptur has served in Congress since 1983 after replacing Ed Weber as representative for Ohio's 9th district and is currently one of its longest-serving members. Born in Toledo in 1946 and residing there today at age 76, she is also an alumna of the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
