Rep. Marcy Kaptur, who has represented Ohio’s 9th district in the U.S. Congress since 1983, shared a series of statements on social media addressing issues ranging from local journalism to global humanitarian concerns and trade policy.

On July 23, 2025, Kaptur marked the closure of a longstanding local newspaper with the post: "The Archbold Buckeye published its final edition on June 25th after 120 years of unwavering service to Archbold, Pettisville, and greater Fulton County, Ohio. It held value as a small town newspaper that has been far more than print and ink. It was part of the beating heart that".

Later that day, she commented on the consequences of government employment decisions during ongoing humanitarian crises: "There is an effect when you fire hardworking people from government. With children dying in Gaza, Africa and hungry kids at home — burned food aid could have kept people alive. The GOP and the White House must take responsibility and recognize their decisions and what happens".

On July 24, 2025, Kaptur criticized former President Trump’s trade policies for their impact on American manufacturing: "President Trump's reckless tariff policies have devastated our American auto industry. Jeep Stellantis reported losing $2.7 Billion — while GM's CEO said tariffs cost $1.1 Billion, and next quarter will be worse. We need real trade reform, balanced trade accounts, and sensible".

Kaptur was born in Toledo, Ohio in 1946 and continues to reside there at age 76. She earned her BA from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 1968.
