Kaptur has been a prominent figure in Ohio politics for over four decades after succeeding Ed Weber in Congress in 1983. Born in Toledo in 1946, she continues to reside there and is known for her engagement with local issues affecting her district along Lake Erie’s Western Basin. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Madison with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1968.
