U.S. Representative Marcy Kaptur, who has represented Ohio’s 9th district since 1983, recently highlighted local union leadership, renewable energy potential, and the U.S. Coast Guard in a series of social media posts.

On August 2, Kaptur shared her participation in a community event with United Auto Workers (UAW) members and leaders. Turning to energy policy on August 4, Kaptur addressed the promise of geothermal technology: "Geothermal energy holds the potential to power millions of homes, slash greenhouse gas emissions, and lower energy costs. Let's create new jobs, lower electric bills, and strengthen our US energy security. Let's get it done and move America to an affordable energy independent".

On August 5, she recognized the anniversary of a key military branch: "This week we wish the United States Coast Guard a Happy 235th Birthday! From icebreaking on our Great Lakes, protecting our shores, their service keeps us safe and strong. I’m always proud to support your mission. Kaptur was born in Toledo in 1946 and continues to reside there. She earned her BA from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 1968 before beginning her long tenure in Congress representing Ohio’s 9th District.
