Rep. Marcy Kaptur, U.S. Congresswoman representing Ohio’s 9th district since 1983, shared updates on her recent activities and concerns through a series of posts on August 7, 2025.

In a post from the early morning hours, Kaptur criticized an unnamed individual for not being available to discuss what she called the “Big Bonanza for Billionaires Bill.” She wrote, "Outrageous! Must be why he wasn’t available to meet about his Big Bonanza for Billionaires Bill which will devastate Ohio manufacturing jobs and our rural hospitals. The Army Corps of Engineers should share records with relevant committees of jurisdiction in Congress." (August 7, 2025).

Later that day, Kaptur participated in the #HonorOurVeterans Day of Action by visiting the Toledo VA. In her post she stated, "Today, as part of the #HonorOurVeterans Day of Action, I visited the Toledo VA to listen to veterans, and medical staff. Our veterans sacrificed so much. Our gratitude for them must be shown not just today—but every day. I will never stop fighting for those whose work for us to" (August 7, 2025).

In another update posted later in the evening, Kaptur highlighted efforts to protect Lake Erie: "On board the Glass City Pearl with Lake Erie Waterkeepers and local leaders to view some of the beauty of our precious Lake Erie. Still much work to be done to protect this great natural asset for future generations." (August 7, 2025).

Kaptur was born in Toledo in 1946 and has remained a resident there throughout her career. She earned her BA from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 1968 and has been a longstanding figure in Congress since replacing Ed Weber over four decades ago.
