Rep. Marcy Kaptur, who represents Ohio’s 9th district in the U.S. Congress, posted several statements on social media in August 2025 addressing concerns about changes to healthcare policy and the potential impact on preventive care.

On August 10, 2025, Kaptur wrote, "Stripping families of free cancer screenings, diabetes checks, and life-saving preventive care by replacing trusted medical experts with political allies is sinister. He's trading science and safety for 'ideology' and it's our communities, especially rural ones, who will pay the". In a separate post made at the same time, she encouraged followers to "Read more here: https://t.co/h7kfOvKVRn".

Kaptur has represented Ohio’s 9th District since 1983 after succeeding Ed Weber. She was born in Toledo in 1946 and continues to reside there. Kaptur holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison (https://bioguide.congress.gov/search/bio/K000009).

Her recent comments highlight her opposition to proposed healthcare changes that would shift decision-making from medical professionals to political appointees. The statements reflect ongoing debates over access to preventive health services in both urban and rural communities.
