Marcy Kaptur highlights community events and federal projects across Northwest Ohio

U.S. Representative Marcy Kaptur, who has served Ohio’s 9th District in Congress since 1983, recently highlighted several community initiatives and federal investments in Northwest Ohio through her social media posts.

On August 10, Kaptur attended a cultural event, stating, "The Festival of India hosted by the Hindu Temple of Toledo at Centennial Terrace brings together our NW Ohio and SE Michigan Indian-American communities to celebrate their heritage. Thrilled to join in the celebration!"

The following day, she participated in a local charity event with the United Auto Workers (UAW). On August 11, she wrote, "A joy to be with @UAW for its Back to School event packing bags for children in need. Every child should feel confident as they start a new school year, and I was glad to help out. Thank you to UAW Local 12 for all you do to lift up our NW Ohio Communities."

Later on August 11, Kaptur referenced ongoing environmental efforts in the region: "Once again, federal investments are paying off for NW Ohio. @BGSU’s Shallow Run Watershed Project is showing progress to improve Lake Erie water quality. Led by Dr. Jay Martin, this partnership of farmers, researchers, and local leaders proves new practices can cut runoff and"

Kaptur has represented Ohio’s 9th District since succeeding Ed Weber in 1983 and is recognized as one of the longest-serving women in Congress. Born in Toledo in 1946 and currently residing there at age 76, she holds a BA from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
