Marcy Kaptur highlights Hispanic Heritage Month and civic engagement on social media

U.S. Representative Marcy Kaptur, who has represented Ohio’s 9th district since 1983, recently used her social media platform to highlight community events and civic engagement opportunities for her constituents.

On September 15, Kaptur shared her appreciation for a local cultural event, stating, "The annual Latino Scholarship Day Parade kicked off #HispanicHeritageMonth! Thank you to all of my friends, both new and old, for such a warm welcome. Communities sharing their treasured heritage with us all is a gift."

The following day, September 16, she reminded residents about the importance of participating in the democratic process: "Today is National Voter Registration Day! It is a good time to check your registration! You can check your registration status here: https://t.co/WUviyel7TY https://t.co/W9a5rAilLE"

On September 17, Kaptur promoted an educational opportunity for students in her district by posting: "Each year dozens of middle and high school students from Ohio’s 9th District participate in the Congressional App Challenge. This annual competition offers an opportunity to showcase your creativity and innovation. The winning app will be recognized in Washington, DC and"

Kaptur has served as the U.S. Representative for Ohio's 9th District since replacing Ed Weber in 1983. Born in Toledo in 1946 and currently residing there at age 76, she earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 1968.
