Rep. Marcy Kaptur, who has represented Ohio’s 9th district in the U.S. Congress since 1983, addressed a range of topics on her social media account between September 18 and 19, 2025. Her posts included tributes to the U.S. Air Force, calls for improved rail safety in Northwest Ohio, and criticism of proposed healthcare cuts.
On September 18, Kaptur marked the anniversary of the U.S. Air Force with a celebratory message: "Happy 78th Birthday to the mighty @USAirForce! Grateful to support those who courageously serve and keep our nation safe in the skies above. Aim High."
The following day, she turned her attention to local infrastructure issues during Rail Safety Week, stating: "Rail is the spine of NW Ohio, but safety has been neglected for too long. From blocked crossings to derailments, our communities deserve better. This #RailSafetyWeek, I highlight the need for action to protect workers, passengers, and families and invest in the modern rail system" (September 19).
Later that afternoon, Kaptur posted about healthcare policy and ongoing political debates regarding federal programs: "Standing up for working families, seniors, and small businesses by protecting access to affordable healthcare, and vital programs including Medicare and Medicaid. Those who would gut them will cause millions of Americans to lose coverage. We must reverse cruel GOP cuts to care." (September 19).
Kaptur’s advocacy comes amid her longstanding tenure as a representative from Ohio’s 9th District—a position she has held since replacing Ed Weber in 1983. Born in Toledo in 1946 and currently residing there at age 76, Kaptur is also an alumna of the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
