In a significant achievement, the team at Parks and Youth Services and Environmental Services have received a prestigious award from the U.S. EPA Region 5 (Great Lakes Region) for Outstanding Contributions in Brownfields Development at Schneider Park. This recognition is for outstanding work in restoring brownfield sites, which are areas left unused or damaged due to pollution or other harmful factors. Through the process of cleaning up and redeveloping these sites, they are transformed into valuable community spaces. At the heart of this award is the creation of the Schneider Park Soccer Complex.
On August 30, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09) announced that Mercy Health will receive a $198,033 Mental Health and Substance Abuse Service Grant from the United States Department of Health & Human Services Center for Substance Abuse Treatment. The City of Toledo announced significant progress of its Rooftops Repair Program, which provided financial assistance and construction management for roof repair or replacement to up to 650 low- to moderate-income eligible households in the City of Toledo. This program stood as a beacon of support for the local community, especially for seniors aged 65 and above, who were on fixed incomes and resided in homes averaging 83 years in age.

On July 31, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09) announced a new $952,380 award to the city of Defiance, Ohio through the United States Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Assistance to Firefighter Grant Program. This FEMA investment will be used for the purchase of a new aerial vehicle which will be used for fighting fires in wildlands and rural areas. The historic peace boat, Golden Rule, will dock in Toledo from August 10 – 13. In 1958, anti-nuclear weapons activists set sail aboard the Golden Rule planning to physically obstruct massive open-air U.S. nuclear weapons tests in the Marshall Islands in the Pacific Ocean.
