City of Toledo to Welcome Historic Peace Boat Golden Rule

The historic peace boat, Golden Rule, will dock in Toledo from August 10 – 13. In 1958, anti-nuclear weapons activists set sail aboard the Golden Rule planning to physically obstruct massive open-air U.S. nuclear weapons tests in the Marshall Islands in the Pacific Ocean. After the Veterans for Peace restored the boat, The Golden Rule now sails for a nuclear-free world and a peaceful, sustainable future.

August 10: 4:00pm – 6:00pm, Promenade Park Portside Dock 5 or 6 WELCOME PRESS CONFERENCE with Mayor of Toledo and local leaders; Veterans for Peace and Northwest Ohio Peace Coalition.

August 11: 10:00am – 3:00pm, Promenade Park Portside Dock 5 or 6 OPEN BOAT TOURS! Meet the Captain and Crew, tour the ship, learn about the Golden Rule Project; Set Sail! (time/weather permitting)

August 11: 5:00pm – 8:00pm, Middlegrounds Metropark - Rotary Roundhouse Shelter. GOLDEN RULE PICNIC/POTLUCK/FUNDRAISER

August 12: 12:00pm – 2:00pm, Downtown Toledo Public Library - Large Glass Community Room.

FILM SCRENING & PANEL DISCUSSION “Making Waves: The Rebirth of the Golden Rule” with crew and activists. Actions: Opportunity to organize, sign a petition and write a letter to the editor or your representatives.
