Congresswoman Kaptur Announces Department of Health & Human Services Award to Mercy Health for Rural EMS Training Program in NW Ohio
On August 30, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09) announced that Mercy Health will receive a $198,033 Mental Health and Substance Abuse Service Grant from the United States Department of Health & Human Services Center for Substance Abuse Treatment. This grant award will be used to help fund a program dedicated to mental health and substance abuse training for emergency medical services professionals in rural areas across Northwest Ohio. The award is for training of EMS.

Congresswoman Kaptur Hosts Ukrainian Ambassador Markarova for Tour of JSMC Army Abrams Tank Plant in Lima, Ohio and Reception in Toledo
On Monday, August 14th, Founder and Co-Chair of the Congressional Ukraine Caucus, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09) hosted Ukraine’s Ambassador to the United States Oksana Markarova for a tour of the Joint Systems Manufacturing Center (JSMC) General Dynamics Land Systems facility in Lima, Ohio led by the United States Army and representatives from UAW Region 2B. Following the tour of the Lima facility, Congresswoman Kaptur hosted Ambassador Markarova for a reception at the Toledo Club with members of the Ukrainian American diaspora, Ukrainian refugees impacted by the Russian War in Ukraine, and others who have been assisting with aid efforts to Ukraine.

Kaptur Announces Major FEMA Award to City of Defiance
On July 31, Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (OH-09) announced a new $952,380 award to the city of Defiance, Ohio through the United States Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Assistance to Firefighter Grant Program. This FEMA investment will be used for the purchase of a new aerial vehicle which will be used for fighting fires in wildlands and rural areas. The grant will help the Division replace its current Aerial, which is 35 years old.
