U.S. Representative Marcy Kaptur, who has served Ohio’s 9th district in Congress since 1983, posted a series of tweets addressing economic and environmental issues relevant to her constituents.
On August 12, 2025, Kaptur criticized former President Donald Trump’s trade policies by stating, "Trump’s reckless tariffs on imports are driving prices up and squeezing hardworking people and local businesses. What is the national security impetus for making coffee more expensive for American workers? https://t.co/om7MawA2Wa". The tweet questioned the justification for tariffs that affect everyday consumer goods such as coffee.
Earlier that day, Kaptur shared a link with her followers, writing on August 11, 2025: "Read more here: https://t.co/EmFjPMuTI7".
Later on August 12, she highlighted efforts to protect Ohio’s natural resources. She tweeted: "Enjoying the great outdoors of NW Ohio with a visit to Secor Metropark and Howard Marsh. GLRI, NOAA and other federal and state investments in our ecosystems and communities mean a healthier watershed and Lake Erie western basin. https://t.co/AcgEj91lzo".
Kaptur has represented Ohio's 9th District in Congress since replacing Ed Weber in 1983. Born in Toledo in 1946, she continues to reside there today. Kaptur earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 1968.
