Rep. Marcy Kaptur, who represents Ohio’s 9th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of messages on September 2, 2025, addressing community development efforts in northwest Ohio, the anniversary of the end of World War II, and concerns about rising energy costs.

In her first post at 18:02 UTC, Kaptur praised local organizations and volunteers for their work in the region. She wrote, "LISC AmeriCorps members, alumni, and local organizations are doing important work in Toledo and our NW Ohio communities helping to connect residents to housing, boost financial stability, and create thriving neighborhoods. Building on these relationships moves our region forward!"

Later that day at 20:53 UTC, she commemorated a significant historical milestone: "Today marks 80 years since the Japanese surrendered to the Allies in the Pacific, and formally ended WWII. I have long championed the cause to uplift the Greatest Generation who I call the most unselfish generation. They preserved Liberty for generations and deserve our deepest"

At 22:13 UTC on September 2nd, Kaptur addressed national concerns over rising household energy costs while criticizing current legislative approaches. She stated, "Household electric bills are up 10% nationally since January, and in some places energy prices have more than doubled. Just ask anybody who lives in northern Ohio! This GOP Energy & Water bill retreats from US Continental and global leadership, while Communist China invests"

Kaptur has represented Ohio’s 9th District since 1983 after succeeding Ed Weber. She was born in Toledo in 1946 and continues to reside there. Kaptur holds a BA from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
