U.S. Representative Marcy Kaptur, who has represented Ohio’s 9th district since 1983, shared updates on community events and advocacy efforts in a series of posts between August 31 and September 1, 2025.
On August 31, Kaptur posted about the region’s ongoing recognition of women’s achievements: "Surrounded by hundreds of strong women from across NW Ohio, we celebrated our 10th Annual Women’s Equality Day. Working together we are building a better future for generations of girls growing up in our hardworking region."
Later that day, she marked International Overdose Awareness Day with a focus on local public health efforts: "On #InternationalOverdoseAwarenessDay we take action to address overdose deaths. This year during Overdose Awareness Week I want to uplift the efforts of Sandusky County Public Health whose work cut Opioid deaths in half. There’s a long way to go—but together we are helping to" (August 31).
On September 1, Kaptur highlighted labor activism at a regional event: "The Toledo Labor Day Parade highlights our region’s rich labor history even as @SteelWorkers and @IAM_Union are on strike at Libbey Glass, standing strong. I urge all parties to return to the table and reach a fair contract."
Kaptur is currently serving her Ohio district in Congress after first taking office in 1983, succeeding Ed Weber. She was born in Toledo in 1946 and continues to reside there. Kaptur holds a BA from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
