Rep. Marcy Kaptur, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Ohio’s 9th district since 1983, addressed several topics in a series of tweets posted on August 26, 2025. Her comments included criticism of recent federal actions, recognition of historical milestones, and calls for protecting social programs.

In her first post of the day, Kaptur criticized the removal of Lisa Cook from the Federal Reserve Board of Governors by President Trump. She wrote on August 26: "President Trump’s firing of Lisa Cook from the Federal Reserve Board of Governors extends a takeover of our US economy that benefits Billionaires at the expense of everyday Americans. Still no relief for families struggling to get by."

Later that afternoon, Kaptur congratulated Ohio native Travis Kelce on his engagement to Taylor Swift before shifting focus to policy issues. In her tweet at 17:45 UTC, she stated: "My heartfelt congratulations to Ohio native Travis Kelce on his engagement to Pennsylvania native Taylor Swift. Now that I have your attention—we must do everything we can to protect Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid before it is too late. People in both our states and"

In an evening post marking a significant anniversary in American history, Kaptur acknowledged the centennial-plus-five milestone of women’s suffrage: "Today marks 105 years of the 19th Amendment, a landmark forged by courageous suffragettes who marched, protested, and sacrificed for equal rights. We honor their vision, and echo their commitment to a more perfect union. Standing on their shoulders, we continue working for true"

Kaptur has been serving in Congress since replacing Ed Weber in 1983 and is currently one of its longest-serving members. Born in Toledo in 1946 and currently residing there at age 76, she holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
