U.S. Representative Marcy Kaptur, who has served Ohio’s 9th district since 1983, posted a series of updates on social media this week highlighting local events and national economic concerns.

On August 14, Kaptur marked the anniversary of a major federal program and community development efforts, writing: "This week as we celebrate the 90th Birthday of #SocialSecurity I joined @ToledoAging and local leaders to break ground on the new Margaret Hunt Senior Center. This new facility will provide nutrition, access to social wellness programs, technology classes, help with" (August 14, 2025).

Later that day, she commented on national economic policy under former President Donald Trump: "President Trump promised to bring your family's costs down on day one, but his reckless tariffs keep driving prices up and up. He needs to get #Trumpflation under control, because hardworking families cannot afford his hidden tariff taxes on every day goods." (August 14, 2025).

On August 15, Kaptur recognized the contributions of postal workers in her hometown: "NW Ohio recently hosted @NALC_National’s Ohio State Convention in my hometown of Toledo. Grateful for time spent with our letter carriers who deliver day in and day out for communities big and small across America. Special thanks to Branch 100 for hosting this inspiring event." (August 15, 2025).

Kaptur was born in Toledo in 1946 and continues to reside there. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 1968 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Over her four decades in Congress—having replaced Ed Weber—she has been active in both local community initiatives and national policy discussions.
