Rep. Marcy Kaptur, U.S. Congresswoman representing Ohio’s 9th district since 1983, recently posted a series of statements on her official Twitter account addressing both international and local issues.
On August 16, 2025, Kaptur criticized the American President's recent diplomatic engagement with Russian President Vladimir Putin, stating: "The American President rolled out the red carpet for a murderous foreign dictator on American soil at an American military base for a photo opp. He gave in to Putin, relented on his own cease fire demand, and left Ukraine to blow in the wind. This is not strength, it’s weakness."
Later that day, Kaptur shared her participation at a community event in Ashland, writing: "Great to join the Ashland Church Food Pantry to speak at their Senior Fun Day lunch. Thankful for a lively conversation with these strong women about my work to protect Social Security and fight back against Republican cuts to Medicare, Medicaid, and food assistance programs to https://t.co/VyEXcHoAgd".
On August 17, 2025, she encouraged followers to read her op-ed published in Ohio newspapers: "Read my full op-ed in the Fremont News Messenger, and in local papers across Ohio here: https://t.co/ecA5LvbfXO".
Kaptur has represented Ohio’s 9th District since replacing Ed Weber in 1983. She was born in Toledo, Ohio in 1946 and continues to reside there. Kaptur graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Madison with a BA in 1968.
