Marcy Kaptur addresses decline in Ohio soybean exports and farm challenges

U.S. Representative Marcy Kaptur, who has served Ohio’s 9th district in Congress since 1983, recently addressed concerns facing Ohio farmers through a series of posts on her social media account.

On August 18, 2025, Kaptur shared a link to a story with the message: "You can watch the story here: https://t.co/ayHFvMCxle".

The following day, she highlighted challenges confronting local agriculture. On August 19, 2025, Kaptur posted: "Our hardworking Ohio Farmers are entering harvest with troubling news: soybean sales to China and others abroad plummeted to a 20 year low! Growers already carry the weight of higher input costs and fragile markets—this cuts deep for Ohio family farms that make and grow what https://t.co/8F8ZoV58GX". Kaptur, born in Toledo, Ohio in 1946 and currently residing there at age 76, has long represented her home region in Congress after succeeding Ed Weber in 1983. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Throughout her tenure, Kaptur has focused on issues impacting her district’s agricultural community as well as broader economic concerns.
