Kaptur, born in Toledo, Ohio in 1946 and currently residing there at age 76, has long represented her home region in Congress after succeeding Ed Weber in 1983. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Throughout her tenure, Kaptur has focused on issues impacting her district’s agricultural community as well as broader economic concerns.
